Prelude to Ecstasy is the sound of five twenty-somethings in corsets and Victorian blouses kicking down the doors of 2024 with the unapologetic grandeur of a 1973 rock opera. Formed in London in 2021 and signed after just one gig, The Last Dinner Party (Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies, Aurora Nishevci) arrived fully formed: part Kate Bush, part Queen, part Sparks, part Florence + the Machine at their most unhinged. Recorded with James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Florence) in just three weeks at The Church Studios, the album is 41 minutes of pure excess: harpsichords crash into distorted guitars, string quartets duel with fuzz bass, and Abigail Morris sings like she�s simultaneously seducing you and stabbing you with a stiletto heel.
