White Pony is the exact moment Deftones stopped being a �nu-metal band� and became something no one has ever successfully copied. Recorded in a rented house in the Hollywood Hills with the same team that made Around the Fur, the band were coming off two years of non-stop touring, cocaine, and creative fights. Chino Moreno wanted to make something beautiful and atmospheric; Stephen Carpenter wanted riffs that could level cities. They both won.
