This is the sound of 3 a.m. in a cheap Brooklyn apartment when the city is finally quiet, the lights are low, and two people are half-undressed, and nobody wants to be the first to fall asleep. Greg Gonzalez wrote, recorded, and produced the entire debut in a stairwell at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, using one microphone, a Fender Jazzmaster through a Vox AC30, a slow tremolo pedal, and reverb so deep you could drown in it. The result is ten love songs that move at the speed of a cigarette burning down to the filter: unhurried, monochrome, and quietly devastating.
