When Rage Against the Machine imploded in October 2000 after Zack de la Rocha quit, the remaining three members (Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk) refused to die quietly. They recruited Chris Cornell, fresh off the wreckage of Soundgarden, and formed Audioslave: the first (and only) supergroup that actually sounded like a real band instead of a side-project cash-in.
